Where the hell is everyone??! OH! I see all my peeps are making tracks over to the big San Diego Comic Con! I love this show its truly the most epic gathering of all nerdkind on the west coast, I dare say North America! I’m sad to say that I won’t be there to bring my Amano-style drunken debauchery this year. Instead I’ll be working hard in my secret studio miles under sea level plugging away at a few items I want to have ready for the Jet City ComicCon and big New York City ComicCon a few months away.

I want to take this time to open up 5 spaces for what I like to call my “I wish I was at SDCC but didn’t have enough money for cab fare Pinup Special”… ok, how about we shorten it to “SDCC Pinup Special”? Perfect!

This special is up for grabs to the first 5 people to order or midnight on Sunday July 25th, 2010! You get an 11×14″ fully inked lineart drawing on Bristol and 11×17″ full color print of your completed illustration. All signed by yours truly! This special is for a single figure illustration only! Happy May intrawebz!

A few weeks ago, I found myself in possession of a red ink pen & pencil. Hmm, what could “I” do with such drawing implements?? The two gears left in my brain not permanently damaged by alcohol began to turn. They turned FAST! I needed something to spice up my TwitterSketches that I post on my twitter account!

Enter Redhead Appreciation Week! Seven days of sexy redheads! Yeah, I know genius… how can this fail? It can’t! The redhead revolution must continue!!

Again if you are not familiar with what I’m doing with my Twitter account, other than post mindless sexual perversions and food images, is posting quick 15minute sketches on any particular subject I fancy at the time. I tried to focus on characters I haven’t had the pleasure of drawing often or at all:

Monday: Black Widow – who doesn’t like a badass redhead decked out in skin tight black tights? I have to say I was influenced a bit by Iron Man 2. I have to say Scarlett didn’t disappoint… only that there needed to be more of her whooping ass! lol.

Tuesday: Medusa – I can’t say I’ve ever drawn this Marvel redhead. I dunno why. I think I might revisit her later… do something uber sexy with the hair.

Wednesday: Joan Holloway – I caught wind of this show called Mad Men a while back. Its a show about some ad execs in the 50s… guys in suits, who draw&sell and drink and are surrounded by sexy curvy 1950s fashion clad women… oh yeah, that’s what Amano heaven is like!! lol That’s when Miss Holloway caught my attention. Watch the show, you’ll see what I mean. woot!

Thursday: Red Sonja – I love this character. Never quite understood why non of her comics took off. I really enjoyed seeing Frank Cho’s version. There needs to be more of her. Hear me comic guys? DO ET! haha.

Friday: Pheonix – I miss old comics! I especially miss the work of Alan Davis on Excalibur… such an epic series with amazing art!! The beauty of an artist like him is that he was able to draw everyone and anything! … and do it in an an exciting and amazing way! I envy that. This is my tribute to Rachel Summers aka Pheonix!

Saturday: Madelyn Pryor aka The Goblin Queen – Another blast from the past! Another epic redhead from the pages of Uncanny X-Men… if you can imagine a sexy evil version of Jean Grey it would be Madelyn. She wore a black costume that pushes the boob limit of comic-dom! haha. Love this character… do want! lol.

Sunday: Lucretia from Spartacus – this might not mean anything to you if you haven’t seen the TV show Spartacus… but if you can imagine for a second, a 60 minute show set in ancient Italy starring a half nekkid Lucy Lawless with long flowing red hair getting it on with beefy Gladiators… that’s is Spartacus. OH! They will have you believe its about a slave overcoming his imprisonment and gaining the love of the masses by becoming the mightiest of gladiators. But I know better, lol.

Well the dust has settled from a crazy week. Amano is updating his webpage? Crazy. I know this! haha. Well, you should know by now that I’m a man of very few words. In fact lately I’ve been limiting my words to under 140 characters on Twitter.  But for those of you who haven’t been keeping up… I DO want to share a piece I just finished of the very sexy Courtney Cruz:

I finally caved into the demands of the intrawebz. The demand for custom personalized full color caricatures at a low price.

Its been a while since I’ve updated my website with news. And I blame Twitter for that, NOT porn. Ok, porn had a small hand in it, but I forgive her. Speaking of Twitter. I thought it would be a great idea to put this social application to good use for something other than my daily nonsense by starting what I call the “TwitterSketch”. Basically, A TwitterSketch is a quick 15 minute freehand sketch done on a 3×5″ index card that looks a little something like this:

I know I posted something about this some months back on my MySpace blog. But thought it would be a good idea to make it official here at the site. This is a fun way to interact with everyone and work on my drawing at the same time.

Amano how does it work? First you have to be a Twitter member. No brainer there, right? Then follow me on Twitter and periodically during the week I will make a tweet where I bring up a topic and/or question and take a certain amount of requests for TwitterSketch ideas. The first (true Amano) Twitter followers that @ me back with their request get it drawn. Simple see?

And once I get enough really good sexy pinup TwitterSketches together, I will put em together in a cute little sketchbook early next year. This project will hopefully go on till the end of the year or until i run out of rum or until I die from another bad Tarantino film.

So keep your peepers open and get those tweet buttons ready!!
