A New Generation of Pinup Girl!

Emerald City ComicCon 2009!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

I want to thank everyone who stopped by the Amano table this weekend at the 2009 Emerald City Comic Con. I had a lot of fun, in fact, I’d say its been a long time since I’ve been to such a great show. All the artists and guests were amazing! I was fortunate enough to meet one of my fav artists at the show, Playboy cartoonist Doug Sneyd (www.dougsneyd.com):

Doug was personalizing copies of this latest book “Unpublished” to all the fans out there. I was honored to get a Bettie Page sketch in my copy. Score!

Saturday I was pretty busy trying to get everyone’s sketches completed before the close of the show. Here’s a couple of them:

Hula girls are sexy!

Black Widow boobies galore!

Conventions are always love/hate for me. I love meeting interesting people, talented artists and tormenting the furries but just when you get in the groove of things, its over. All good things must end it seems. Or just be patient until the next show!

I’ve been pluggin away on commissions. In fact I’ll share one I just finished in time for the show this weekend:

Pale boobies.

I try to post new work when I can. Alot of the pieces I do are private tho, so no soup for you. I have also been focusing on my side project, a full color book. I’m shooting for next year to wrap it up. Its alot of work, but I’m confident that when its done it will snock your sockmonkeys off.

Speaking of sockmonkeys… Spicey stayed at home this weekend. He wasn’t happy about that. So I thought I’d make it up to him by getting him a Carla Gugino Silk Spectre doll:

Don’t let the book fool you this sockmonkey only looks at the pictures.

Well, that’s all for now. I want to dedicate this Hump Day to pinup girlie extraordinaire Miss Jeannie (www.pinuplifestyle.com/profile/MissJeannie) for hanging with me at the show this weekend:

Westside! Yea, totally gangsta!

Ok kiddies, that’s all for now. I’m wrapping up drawing and watching a little Ratatouille on DVD… then its bed time for this rum runner.

Peace, love and rum,

Ratatouille promised to help with next week’s update, so stay tuned!

Bernie Dex Rocks ur Face!

I know a post was long overdue here on my homepage, but I wanted to post the last piece I was happy with. Its a piece inspired by rockabilly pinup girl Bernie Dexter:

I usually like to post about new art and conventions and what not. But lately its been much easier for me to write over at my MySpace blog. I update weekly on Wednesdays (becuase Wednesday is Hump Day and who doesn’t like Hump Day? see?). So make sure to add me there as a friend and say “hi”… I wanna hear what you guys are up to.

I’m still pretty exhasted from the big convention in Seattle this weekend. It was good fun. Hope to be posting pics and all that good stuff in my next blog post (MySpace, check it!).

Next month, I’ll be exhibiting two of my pieces at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival on May 1-3rd. I’m excited about that. Make sure you swing on by to see all the fun.

Well, that’s all for now. Behave yourselves and remember to tell mom you love her!

April Foolin’

Hey monkey boys and girls!

Don’t you hate when you have exciting things to talk about and your computer goes belly up? Myspace erases a perfectly written blog post and you spill your rum all over your crotch? rum crotch?!

Well, I’m back up and running and ready to talk about last Wednesday. Not only was it Hump Day (an weekly celebration of the female form here at the Amano blog) but it was also the day Dita Von Teese was in town to perform!!!

It was taking place down at the Triple Door in the heart of Seattle. I love this venue, ultra cool place! In fact I even broke down and had a beer (yeah I know I couldn’t make it past 1 month!!)… actually I think it was 2 beers… OK, fine, it was 4 but they were delicious. Mad props to the peeps at the Widmer beer company of Portland, OR for making such a amazing drink! It was the perfect partner to my savory steak dinner as only the Wild Garlic restaurant can dish up! AAAANNND, as you can see from the photo above… dessert was AMAZING! haha.

Front row dessert no less! Primo!

Now for those of you who have not had the pleasure of seeing Dita perform live. Please drop everything (rum excluded) and catch her the next time she’s in town. Do it!! You’ll thank me later!

I had a fantastic time. I would have loved to stay for the night show but Emerald City ComicCon was this weekend and I needed to get my shit to-ge-tha for the show! All work and no play makes Amano a dull boy… but all play and no work doesn’t pay the bills. And I got a sock monkey to provide for and rums to stock!

I hope to have a post together to talk about the con this weekend up by Wednesday night. You’ll have a double deuce serving of Amano blogs this week. So stay tuned for that!

One love,

Dita rules!

End transmission.
